Why we are using a Soccer Ball as the logo for OpenDB

It represents an International Sport and one of the most important issues for OpenDB is be Internationally accepted.

The view with one of the Pentagons(Black 5-sided patches) in the center is always surrounded by the other five Pentagons visible from that view.
The similarity to OpenDB is that with each of the visible Pentagons representing one of the subject tables in OpenDB, the seams between each of the Pentagons represent the join Tables which join the Subject tables together in their Many-to-Many
relationship. The hexagon(White 6-sided patches) can represent the Notes which give the wildcard information sometimes needed to give more detail about the Subject.

This is a pretty wild visualization but like the BuckyBall in scientific studies (Rice University) which has the same structure and solves multitudes of scientific problems. I think it would it would be interesting if a parallel could be drawn between the scientific community and the business community in how data from one source could be attached to data from another source to pass information. With the advent of XML, that might not be too far away.
